One person, one district, and residue that is currently burned in the field

ResidueWorks exists to move crop residue off fields around Ayodhya and into industrial boilers that would otherwise burn coal. Every November the alternative is that it is set alight where it lies, because clearing a field costs a farmer money and burning it costs nothing.

It is one person at the moment, which decides a great deal. It means starting with the line that pays for itself soonest — baling and supplying residue — and running it out of Masodha, Rauzagaon and Khurja rather than promising a state.

The rest follows from the same yards. A mill that sells us husk has a canteen producing used cooking oil with nowhere to go, a coal-fired boiler that could be converted, and a listed customer beginning to ask for emissions data it cannot produce. Four separate companies would each have to earn that mill's trust from scratch. That is the reason to build one counterparty book and add lines to it, and the reason the software was written that way before the second line exists.

How we operate

Density over reach

Five adjacent districts rather than the state. A baling crew only pays if it can move between fields in the same afternoon, and a trailer only pays if the depot is closer than the buyer.

Measure, then price

Every lot is weighed and tested before it is valued. Buyers pay on calorific value, and a figure nobody can defend is worth nothing when a consignment is disputed at a weighbridge.

Say no early

When carbon starts, the screening happens in the first meeting and a business is told plainly if its reductions are already spoken for. Losing a week is cheaper than losing a year.

Keep the evidence

A carbon verifier in 2030 will ask how a 2026 number was produced. We store the inputs and the factor versions alongside every figure, so the answer is a record rather than a reconstruction.

Everyone we trade with gets an account

Not a monthly statement and not a phone call — a login that shows your own record, updated as it happens. It is the same system our operations run on, which is why the numbers in it are the numbers on your invoice.

Suppliers

Farmers, rice mills and aggregators selling residue to us.

Their own lots, what each graded at, what is owed and what has been paid.

Buyers

Boilers, thermal plants and CBG plants buying fuel from us.

Their own consignments, the lab certificate behind each lot, invoices, and the status of any quote they have asked for.

Programme participants

SMEs enrolled in a grouped carbon programme.

Their own activity data, credits attributed to them, and their revenue share.

Nobody else

An account is tied to one counterparty record.

No counterparty can see another's volumes, rates or invoices. Our own staff see only what their role requires — field crews record what is in front of them and never see a customer's credit limit.

Accounts are created by us when a trading relationship starts — there is no public sign-up, because every login is tied to a counterparty we already know.
